Bob L. Martin

Interim Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Board

Bob L. Martin is the Interim Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chair of the Board of Gap Inc.

Bob originally joined Gap Inc.’s Board in 2002, served as Lead Independent Director from 2003 to 2015 and November 2019 to March 2020, and has served as Executive Chair of the Board since March 2020.

He is a retail industry veteran with over 40 years of work experience, including as President and Chief Executive Officer of Wal-Mart International, where Bob launched and built a $35+ billion-dollar business in just seven years, operating the company’s portfolio of Discount Stores, Supercenters, Sam’s Wholesale Clubs, and various local branded stores in 11 countries, comprising over 900 stores and 288,000 associates. 

Before leading Wal-Mart International, Bob served as Wal-Mart’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) and led their technology and logistics systems development, shaping supply chain and logistics networks, bar code technologies, mobile computing, data mining and game changing technologies like Retail Link that leveraged collaborative strategies between retailers and manufacturers.

Bob L. Martin is the Interim Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chair of the Board of Gap Inc.

Katrina O’Connell

Katrina O’Connell is the Chief Financial Officer, leading Gap Inc.’s global finance function.

Mark Breitbard

Mark Breitbard leads Gap, one of the world’s most iconic apparel brands and the authority on American casual style.  In addition, he is responsible for the company’s Franchise and Strategic Alliances and Licensing business.

Mark is a leader with clear vision and the proven ability to drive transformation and innovation. He has more than 25 years of retail leadership experience, serving in numerous product, creative and management roles at major global brands. He began leading Gap global in 2020 and has laid a foundation to turn the brand around through new positioning and a new operating model. Mark held leadership positions across Gap and was instrumental in delivering the product-led resurgence of Gap’s North America business between 2010-2013.  

In 2017, he rejoined Gap Inc. as CEO and President for Banana Republic and during that time stabilized the business and launched new access points, including a rental subscription service, Style Passport, and a partnership with thredUP, the world’s largest fashion resale platform.

Prior to this, Mark served as chief executive officer at The Gymboree Corporation from 2013 until early 2017. From 2010 to 2013, Mark held leadership positions across Gap North America, where he was instrumental in delivering the product-led resurgence of Gap’s North America business. He also served as chief merchandising and creative officer of Old Navy from 2009 to early 2010. Previously, Mark served in leadership roles at Levi Strauss & Co. and Abercrombie & Fitch. 

Mark graduated from Vassar College and earned a Master of Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

Horacio "Haio" Barbeito is the President and CEO of Old Navy, where he leads the global apparel and accessories brand in delivering on its unique value proposition, offering style, fit, quality and cultural relevance at jaw-dropping prices.

Haio is a multi-disciplined, people-driven leader with deep customer empathy who brings together merchandising, marketing, supply chain and store operations knowledge across various geographies. Prior to joining Old Navy, Haio spent 26 years with Walmart, including a decade in CEO roles for Walmart’s various international businesses. Most recently, he spent nearly three years serving as CEO for Walmart’s $22 billion Canada business where he led the team’s 100,000 associates, oversaw the Walmart Canada modernization plan and spearheaded a transformation of Walmart’s retail experience.  

Originally from Argentina, Haio enjoys spending time with his family – including his wife Lenny and his four children; Horacio, Victoria, Federico and Pedro. He has a Degree in Management from Universidad Catolica Argentina and completed the Senior Executive Programme at London Business School, in London UK.

Sandra Stangl is the head of Banana Republic, a global brand that offers affordable luxury by using the finest materials with the latest fabric innovations to create timeless, modern, and versatile style.  

With more than 25 years of retail leadership experience, Sandra has a strong background in driving design vision and successfully transforming and growing brands through new business extensions and lifestyle experiences. Most recently, she co-founded and was the Chief Merchant of MINE, a pure-play home business.   

Previously, Sandra spent 23 at Williams Sonoma, where she was part of a small team that developed and launched two brands—Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen and held numerous leadership positions, including President of Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, and Pottery Barn Teen. Mary Beth Laughton is the head of Athleta, a certified B Corporation and premium fitness and lifestyle brand that creates versatile, performance apparel to inspire a community of active, confident women and girls. In addition to leading Athleta, Mary Beth oversees the company’s Canadian business across Gap Inc.

Mary Beth Laughton is the head of Athleta, a certified B Corporation and premium fitness and lifestyle brand that creates versatile, performance apparel to inspire a community of active, confident women and girls.  

With more than 20 years of retail and digital leadership, Mary Beth has a strong background in driving omni-channel growth through innovative experiences. During her tenure at Athleta, Mary Beth has grown the store fleet to more than 220 locations, guided the business to surpass $1B in net sales, and expanded the brand to new points of distribution including Canada and other international markets. She has increased brand awareness and brought the brand’s mission to life by establishing partnerships with athletes Simone Biles and Allyson Felix, musical artist Alicia Keys, and through building a digital community dedicated to well-being through AthletaWell.   

Previously, Mary Beth spent over eight years at Sephora leading the stores and ecommerce businesses. While there, she drove quadruple-digit business growth through the brands omnichannel business and led the retailer to its dominance in digital innovation, including the launch of its award-winning mobile App. Prior to Sephora, Mary Beth spent nearly a decade at Nike, where she held a variety of strategy, merchandising and e-commerce roles, including three years as General Manager for Nike’s e-commerce business in Europe. She started her career as a consultant at McKinsey & Co. Mary Beth became a board member of Impossible Foods in August 2020 and was previously a board member of REI.

Mary Beth graduated from Indiana University and holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. She lives in the Bay Area with her husband and two children.

Chief Growth Officer

Asheesh Saksena is the Chief Growth Officer of Gap Inc., leading the company’s strategic agenda, as well as growth initiatives for the future. He oversees Operations, Technology, Digital and Customer organizations, and Corporate Strategy.

Asheesh brings more than 30 years of transformational experience grounded in general management roles and best in class consulting, as well as in-house, large-scale corporate strategy and strategic growth roles.

Prior to joining Gap Inc., Asheesh served as President of Best Buy Health where he led the formation and operation of the brand’s strategic diversification into Digital Health after serving as the company’s Chief Strategic Growth Officer. During his time with Best Buy, he helped expand the company’s addressable market and incubated new platforms for growth. He has also lead strategy and growth organizations at Cox Communications, Time Warner Cable, and as Partner at Accenture.

Gurmeet Singh

Gurmeet Singh is the Chief Digital and Technology officer for Gap Inc. leading the company’s technology, digital transformation, data science and analytics, customer insights and personalization, and product management functions.

Gurmeet brings extensive and unique experience driving multiple digital transformations across retail, financial services, supply chain, and software corporations, including both in-house growth strategy roles and consulting roles.
 
Prior to joining Gap Inc., Gurmeet served as Chief Technology and Information Officer at Big Lots where he led retail technology transformation in support of the company’s growth agenda. Prior to Big Lots, Gurmeet was the catalyst for redefining convenience at 7-Eleven through digital product, software, data, and artificial intelligence while serving as the company’s Chief Digital, Information and Marketing Officer. He’s also led industry-first digital programs at Capital One, where he holds multiple patents through the launch of its integrated car buying and financing e-commerce solution. At FedEx, Gurmeet launched and drove key digital ecosystem strategies with partners such as HP, Google and Adobe. 
 
Gurmeet currently serves on the board of directors at Focus Brands, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT – Kanpur, India), a master’s degree in Engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, and a Ph.D. in Engineering from Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Gurmeet Singh is the Chief Digital and Technology officer for Gap Inc. leading the company’s technology, digital transformation, data science and analytics, customer insights and personalization, and product management functions.

Sally Gilligan is the Chief Growth Transformation Officer for Gap Inc. leading the long-term strategic direction of Gap Inc. along with members of the Senior Leadership Team. As head of the Strategic Growth Office, she oversees our strategic planning and new business development and operations in support of our growth initiatives.  In this capacity, she leads the corporate development, strategy, new business operations, sustainability, Gap foundation, and government affairs organizations. 

Sally has been with Gap Inc. for over 16 years, serving in a variety of roles in the organization with a focus on transformation, capability building and optimization. Most recently, Sally served as CIO, overseeing the company’s technology transformation and organization that serves as the engine that drives retail, e-commerce and global enterprise technology for millions of customers. She also served as SVP of Product Operations and Supply Chain Strategy where she led a global team responsible for building and deploying capabilities to enable the end-to-end demand based operating model. This included sourcing & fulfillment strategy, product management for all operations design through inventory management and fulfillment, and advanced analytics for product costing, inventory, and network optimization.   

Prior to joining Gap Inc., Sally has ten years of management consulting and financial services experience. Sally holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and a Masters in Business Administration from University of Chicago. She serves as Chair of the Gap Foundation.

Julie Gruber

Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary

As Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Julie leads the Legal, Compliance, Loss Prevention and Global Security functions for Gap Inc. As Corporate Secretary, she is a trusted advisor to the board and works closely with the Chairman of the Board and the CEO.  Julie’s teams protect the people, property, reputation and information of Gap Inc.’s employees, customers and communities.

Over her career, Julie has had the opportunity to lead a variety of disciplines, including Government Affairs, Sustainability, the Gap Foundation, Corporate Administration, and Employee Relations in addition to all aspects of Legal and Compliance. Julie established Gap Inc.’s Cyber Security and Privacy Council, co-founded the company’s Risk Committee and chairs the Integrity and Corporate Crisis teams. During her tenure with the company, she has built a strong track record of leading Gap Inc. through various crisis, acquisitions, and global expansions. Additionally, she has significant experience across branding, intellectual property, and franchising.     

An avid champion for diversity, Julie drove Gap Inc. to join the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, an organization of more than 300 corporate legal officers and law firm managing partners dedicated to creating a truly diverse legal profession in the U.S.  In addition, she led Gap Inc. to be one of the first corporate legal department sponsors of Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule initiative, which helps drive and measure diversity across law firm leadership.      

Prior to joining Gap Inc., she was an associate at Bronson, Bronson and McKinnon in San Francisco and clerked for the Honorable Ronald M. Whyte in the Federal District Court in San Jose.  Julie is a graduate of the University of California’s Hastings College of Law and received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Yale University. Julie serves on the Board of LifeMoves - Breaking the Cycle of Homelessness and is on the Executive Committee for the American Heart Association’s Bay Area Go Red for Women Campaign.

As Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Julie leads the Legal, Compliance, Loss Prevention and Global Security functions for Gap Inc. As Corporate Secretary, she is a trusted advisor to the board and works closely with the Chairman of the Board and the CEO.  Julie’s teams protect the people, property, reputation and information of Gap Inc.’s employees, customers and communities.

Over her career, Julie has had the opportunity to lead a variety of disciplines, including Government Affairs, Sustainability, the Gap Foundation, Corporate Administration, and Employee Relations in addition to all aspects of Legal and Compliance. Julie established Gap Inc.’s Cyber Security and Privacy Council, co-founded the company’s Risk Committee and chairs the Integrity and Corporate Crisis teams. During her tenure with the company, she has built a strong track record of leading Gap Inc. through various crisis, acquisitions, and global expansions. Additionally, she has significant experience across branding, intellectual property, and franchising.     

An avid champion for diversity, Julie drove Gap Inc. to join the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, an organization of more than 300 corporate legal officers and law firm managing partners dedicated to creating a truly diverse legal profession in the U.S.  In addition, she led Gap Inc. to be one of the first corporate legal department sponsors of Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule initiative, which helps drive and measure diversity across law firm leadership.      

Prior to joining Gap Inc., she was an associate at Bronson, Bronson and McKinnon in San Francisco and clerked for the Honorable Ronald M. Whyte in the Federal District Court in San Jose.  Julie is a graduate of the University of California’s Hastings College of Law and received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Yale University. Julie serves on the Board of LifeMoves - Breaking the Cycle of Homelessness and is on the Executive Committee for the American Heart Association’s Bay Area Go Red for Women Campaign.  

Tim Hemmert

Head of Supply Chain – Global Sourcing and Transportation

Tim Hemmert is the Head of Supply Chain – Global Sourcing and Transportation at Gap Inc., leading the manufacturing and transportation of products from origin to distribution centers, retail stores and customers around the globe. He oversees multiple functions across Gap Inc.’s supply chain including global sourcing, logistics control tower and brand operations, global trade compliance and brokerage services, e-commerce parcel operations, and domestic and international transportation operations.

Tim has been with Gap Inc. for more than 22 years, serving in numerous Supply Chain leadership roles focused on operations optimization, supply chain strategy, trade and procurement, and transportation. Prior to joining Gap Inc., Tim managed client and 3rd party vendor relationships, as well as end-to-end sales cycles—inclusive of asset and inventory management, supply chain design, and business processes engineering—as an Enterprise Consultant for Siemens Corporation.

Tim holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Dayton in Ohio, and a master’s certificate in Project Management from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He also sits on several trade advisory and supplier advisory boards representing Supply Chain industry interests and trade policy reform.

Kevin Kuntz

Head of Supply Chain – Fulfillment and Procurement

Kevin Kuntz is the Head of Supply Chain – Fulfillment and Procurement at Gap Inc., leading global logistics operations for all of Gap Inc.’s Customer Experience Centers, as well as its Customer Contact Centers. With a heavy focus on accelerating automation and transformation, Kevin oversees global processing, fulfillment, and distribution across the company’s entire omnichannel network.

During his 35 years with Gap Inc., Kevin has executed end-to-end start-up operations to launch, expand and transform distribution centers internationally, including consulting on location and architectural design, onboarding and implementing automation capabilities, artificial intelligence and machine learning software, and driving efficiencies for materials handling and inventory management.

Kevin began his career at Gap Inc. at 17 years old as a seasonal merchandise handler at one of the company’s distribution centers. Since then, Kevin has held multiple roles of steadily increasing responsibility and scope within Gap Inc.’s logistics and transportation divisions.
